Local business owner decides it's time to give back, plans Winter Solstice Party

Bay City has been so good to Lyndsay Edmonds that Lyndsay Edmonds says it’s time to give back to Bay City.

The owner of Harless + Hugh Coffee and The Public House has organized the inaugural Winter Solstice Party, the majority of proceeds of which will be donated to the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission.

Celebrating seven years of Harless + Hugh in February of 2019, for Edmonds, it’s a chance to give back. That sentiment is reflected in her new rebranding slogan: Give and take.

"Bay City has given me so much: Work, relationships, friendships," Edmonds says.

"It’s time to do more for the community."

The Winter Solstice Party will be held Friday, Dec. 21, at Harless + Hugh Coffee. The event features live music performances from Sarah Schingeck and Julia Ross inside the coffee shop. A decorated ‘igloo’ is located out back for congregating, as well.

Tickets for the event are $15 and available online or at the door. Two free drinks are included with purchase.

Edmonds says she spent most of her life focusing on humanitarian work, both at school and previous jobs. Incorporating such work into her businesses here represents the missing link, saying that it was time to make it happen.

"I grew up in Essexville and came to Bay City and opened these businesses," Edmonds says.

"The community has provided so much for me. I’ve grown so much as a person because of Bay City."

Harless + Hugh Coffee is located at 1003 Washington Ave. in Bay City.
