Slow down this holiday season and catch a classic film at the State while helping a local nonprofit

From Thanksgiving to Christmas can feel like a race against time. This year, though, you're invited to take a break, enjoy a classic holiday movie, and help out the Bay Area Women's Center.

The Bay Area Women's Center is hosting a White Christmas Family Musical Experience at the State Theatre, 913 Washington Ave., on Sat., Nov. 25 at 2 and 7 p.m.

The 1954 film with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Vera Ellen, and Rosemary Clooney will be shown and attendees will be encouraged to bring a personal care item to donate for the clients at the Bay Area Women's Center.

The event includes a White Christmas Trivia Contest with prizes. One prize is a fully-decorated Christmas tree donated by Regent Floral and Mercantile, 924 Washington Ave.

Larry Jacobs and Kurt Miller will host the event. Miller hinted they may add a bit of stage performance to highlight a particular scene in the film.

"We think it will be a nice kickoff to the holiday season and the shopping rush that follows," Miller says. "We're hoping that folks will use the opportunity to enjoy a family break, learn something about BAWC, support the cause, and maybe wear their holiday finest."

Tickets are holiday priced at $10 for adults; $5 for children and teens; and free for children under 12. Donations beyond the ticket price are welcome at info@bawc-mi.org

Presenting sponsor for the event is LiUNA Local 1098. The State Theatre donated the site for the event.
