Capital Gains Video: Impression 5

A grassroots effort got Lansing’s Impression 5 Science Center off the ground in 1972. Now the Lansing hotspot is one of the most popular attractions in the Capital region, capitalizing on creativity to get kids interested in science.

From its flowing water room to a massive eyeball, Impression 5 is encouraging learning through an engaging combination of touch, sight, sound, smell and maybe even a little taste (though Executive Director Erik Larson says you don't have to lick any exhibits).

During the last couple of years, the Impression 5 Science Center has added several new exhibits and science rooms, including a place for tots. A $150,000 federal grant is allowing the center to add a new life science exhibit in the existing building.
