The former home of Holiday Lanes, now aptly named
Spare Time Entertainment Center, is more than just bowling these days. Under new ownership and a new name, the renovated digs are already offering patrons some new options, with more on the way.
“As a family entertainment center we’ll offer a lot more options,” says Nancy MacColeman, owner of the business along with her husband Michael and their children. “We’ll have boutique bowling area, with eight lanes and it’s own private bar, and it will have a more upscale feeling.”
In addition to the updated look and bowling options, the center will offer a two-story laser tag arena, a redemption arcade area, as well as upgraded food options. The Lansing location is one of Michigan's first models of the entertainment center concept to develop and commence production.
Seven new employees have already been hired to staff Spare Time Entertainment, and MacColeman expects to hire up to 20 more as the renovations are completed and the business is fully functioning. MacColeman also retained Holiday Lanes employees.
Construction began about three weeks ago, and MacColeman hopes it will be completed by 4
th of July. The business will remain open throughout the majority of construction. Patrons can enjoy some of the changes to the business right away. Renovations will also include exterior upgrades.
“We’ve already upgraded the pizza and we’re already getting fantastic reviews on that,” says MacColeman.
