The
Special PRops team
at Motion Marketing & Media has a big goal to accomplish in a very
short period of time. This week, the newly formed public relations arm
of the Lansing-based marketing firm will begin a two-week endeavor to
tweet from all 83 Michigan counties.
They're calling it the
#MeetMichigan tour, and while it certainly sounds like a lot of fun, the
team has several goals the wish to accomplish with the trip.
"One goal is to revamp the state's attitude and image,"
says Anna Daugherty of M3 Group. "It's also to promote tourism, and we
want to show people throughout the state how social media can really
affect their lives in their communities."
M3
Group will also be using the trip to introduce themselves to businesses
all over Michigan. The tour began June 28 in Lansing, and the group will
begin traveling toward Jackson. The
#MeetMichigan adventure will end July 12 in Detroit, 83 counties later.
"We've
been doing a lot of backend work on each county," says Daugherty.
"Learning what attractions they have, and who is really involved in
social media there. We'll be looking to take pictures from each stop to
show that we were there."
Planned stops along
the way include a June 30th visits to Traverse City for the TC TweetUp
and Tawas City for Fourth of July fireworks.
"Really, the big ideas are buying local and supporting Michigan," Daugherty says.
