123.net brings high-speed wireless to downtown A2

Southfield-based 123.net is in the process of offering Wi-Fi service in most of downtown Ann Arbor, providing one more 21st Century option in the heart of Michigan's new economy nerve center.

The company is in the process of setting up equipment for 4G WiMAX coverage on the top of Tower Plaza, a 26-story condo building across the street from the rear entrance of the Nickel's Arcade. Any person or business within a clean line of sight of the building should be able to purchase the Wi-Fi through 123.net's sales arm, downtown Ann Arbor-based 20/20 Communications.

"We cover a pretty broad base of businesses and residents in Washtenaw County," says Dave Curran, channel sales manager for 123.net. "This will cover most of downtown Ann Arbor."

123.net's 4G (Fourth Generation) WiMAX is the first of its kind offered in southeast Michigan, and so far the service is available in Oakland County and Ann Arbor. The technology offers dedicated, symmetrical bandwidth packages from 1.5 Mbps to 8 Mbps.
