A sense of place: New Mt. Pleasant visitors guides promote city and region

Small town big culture. Small town big flavor. Small town big family fun.

Those are just a few of the headlines taken from the annual Mt. Pleasant Area Visitors Guide recently released by the Mt. Pleasant Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The brochure highlights much of what Mt. Pleasant and the rest of Isabella County has to offer each year.

Recreation opportunities, parks, and campgrounds. Galleries and museums. Restaurants, restaurants, and more restaurants. All these and more are identified throughout, drawing tourists to the region while also giving locals suggestions of places to visit and enjoy inside of town and out.

"This is a great piece to look at our whole community. It does a lot to promote our quality of life and provide a sense of place," says Chris Rowley, Executive Director for the Mt. Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.

"We’ve been producing these since the beginning of our existence, well over 30 years now."

This year’s iteration reflects the city’s first new branding campaign since the 1990s. The Meet Here brand campaign was launched in November 2018. The 2019 visitors guides carry that branding in the sense of content, color schemes, logos, and more.

The guides will be available not just locally but throughout the Great Lakes region, with the visitors bureau distributing the guides to 13 MDOT Welcome Centers and seven Ohio Turnpike Service Centers. The West Michigan Tourist Association will take the guides to any trade shows they attend, as well.

The visitors bureau is also taking requests from local businesses and organizations that wish to carry the guides, making them available by the handful or boxes of 100 each.
