Macomb County bike drive off to a solid start

Macomb County’s bike drive has received more than 50 bike donations to provide for children in need.

“We’ve already gotten a positive response from organizations and communities, some of the collection sites are even challenging one another to see who can collect the most bikes,” Melissa Roy, Advancing Macomb executive director said in a Macomb Daily article.

The campaign seeks to collect gently used bikes for children without the means to afford them for the duration of fall and winter.
During the winter months, bikes will be repaired with help from skilled volunteers between January and April, just in time for summer.

Along with Advancing Macomb, a number of organizations are participating in the campaign including Macomb YMCA, Thoughtful Missions, CARE of Southeast Michigan and No Bike Left Behind.

The county-wide drive has helped organizations and communities come together as well as residents and local businesses for a greater good.

Bike drop off locations include the Sterling Heights Senior Center, Clinton Township Parks and Recreation, Mount Clemens City Hall, and Recreation Authority of Roseville and Eastpointe all open between 9 am and 4 pm Monday through Friday, with select locations open on the weekends.
