Michael Stoskopf“Every job has challenges, but you should be excited about your job and always strive to make every day a great one,” Stoskopf says. One thing that brings him much excitement is what the Novi Home Show offers for the HBA members and guests.
How did the Novi Home show get started?
The first versions of the Novi Home Show were created in the 1960s, as a way to connect exhibitors with potential clients. The first Home Shows were held at Cobo Hall and greatly rivaled the popular Auto Show. After many years, the home show moved its location to the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi for more convenience to its audiences in the Livingston and Oakland area. Due to its popularity, The Novi Home Show now features three yearly events, in October, January, and April. The Spring Home Show/Garden show is one their most popular events bringing out about 25,000 people. The show features garden landscapes, including plants, stonework and 30ft trees that fill the venue. However, this event is also very popular bringing out roughly 15,000 homeowners.
What's the Novi Home Show about?
The Novi Home Show is an indoor event that connects exhibitors from the HBA, which includes landscapers, remodelers, countertop installers, basement refinishers, etc., with homeowners. This show allows homeowners to discover products and find professionals to take on much needed home improvement projects, from landscaping to decor.
This event gives homeowners the opportunity to meet with professionals personally and converse with them about their project ideas. It features six manufactured homes, including upgraded kitchens and premium master baths from the Michigan Manufactured Housing Association Home Showcase.
Special appearances will include educational seminars provided by Great Lakes Ace Hardware, new products exhibited by Boyce Thompson, and Glenn Haege of WJR-AM will provide a live broadcast with “America’s Master Handyman.” Also present will be tips, tools, and trends stage featuring multiple exhibitors during different times throughout the 3 day event.
Who typically attends the three-day event?
The Home Show typically draws out new homeowners seeking to renovate their new home and long-time homeowners looking to update their home to increase resale value. The event allows both types of homeowners to find new ideas or to make their vision come to life with the help of professionals.
What can people expect to learn at the show?
Homeowners should expect to receive answers about their ideas for their homes from knowledgeable professionals in a no pressure environment. They should set aside their preconceived notions to listen and learn from great resources, such as members from the HBA. Homeowners should use this opportunity to view top notch manufactured homes to see what they have to offer and if it’s something they would potentially be interested in.
The Novi Home Show takes place October 14-16 at the Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Avenue Novi, MI 48374. Friday October 14, 2-8pm, Saturday October 15 10am-8pm, and Sunday October 16 10am-5pm. The event is $10 for adults, free for children 12 and under, and there is a special “$5 after 5” on Friday and Saturday.
