Tour the Ren Cen

The Ren Cen and GM are offering free one-hour tours that take visitors through the landmark GM Renaissance Center. The tours also outline the rich history that General Motors shares with the city of Detroit.

Tours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Tours depart from the Customer Service Desk located in the GM Wintergarden. No advance registration is required.  Private tours are suggested for groups of 10 or more.  To make group tour arrangements, contact Kim Rusinow at 313.568.5624.

Starting this year, the tour now includes a stop at the OnStar Command Center, subject to availability on any given day.

Ren Cen Tour Highlights:

• GM Wintergarden: a tropical atrium overlooking the Detroit River
• GM Lobby and Pavilion: the glass-and-steel Jefferson Plaza entrance
• GM World: an eclectic display of vintage, new model and concept vehicles
• GM Collection: a unique collection of GM souvenirs and historical books
• Circulation Ring: 288 pieces of suspended etched glass panels connecting the building's four towers
• "Borealis" Glass Sculpture: the tallest vertical glass sculpture in the world
• Ren Cen Shops: a showcase of boutique shopping unique to Detroit
• Restaurants: the expansive food court and the world-class, white-linen restaurants of Andiamo Riverfront, Seldom Blues and Coach Insignia
• Riverfront Plaza and Promenade: features a world map carved in granite
• Detroit Riverfront Conservancy: an overview of the "Bridge to Bridge" vision and Riverwalk

The one-hour tour concludes with a glass elevator ride to the 72nd floor of the Detroit Marriott Hotel for a breathtaking view of the Detroit and Windsor skylines.
