Awecomm Technologies to add 2 jobs as it expands website prowess

Eleven years ago Brent Yax and his partners went into business for themselves with Awecomm Technologies. Eighteen months ago the software firm took that philosophy to a new level by forgoing custom website work in favor of creating its own websites.

They include www.carguysflooring.com, www.myfranchiselaw.com and www.thecablestudy.com. That has helped the Troy-based company to grow to 18 employees and half a dozen independent contractors. Right now it has two open positions for creative director and network engineer.

"As we're building out our sites and new sites we're building out our team," says Yax, president & CEO of Awecomm Technologies. "We expect to get to the point where we build a new site a week."

Awecomm Technologies got its start as an Internet service provider. After the dotcom bubble burst, it moved to web hosting. That still makes up most of Awecomm Technologies' business (about 80 percent), allowing it to open up facilities in Chicago, Iowa, and North Carolina.
