Photo Essay: Flavors of the World in Sterling Heights

Sterling Heights may not be traditionally known for its culinary scene, but that didn’t stop nearly 3000 participants from enjoying the annual Chamber Food Truck Rally on September 6th. The donation-entry event raised funds for the Clinton Township Firefighter Fund and Metromode photographer Joe Powers captured the diverse flavors that make up the city and its surrounds.
 



Sterling Heights-based Rita's ice cream truck brought some smiles at the rally, serving Italian Ice and frozen custard.



Polish Mania Warsaw Cuisine provides fare from its Sterling Heights location and food truck, including Pierogis, Polish sausages, stuffed cabbage and potato pancakes. 



Crepe Day Twah paid homage to Detroit's French history, and poked fun at the English pronunciation of French words.



Buck n Dinks got things smoking in a unique style with their BBQ, providing some southern flavors such as pulled pork, frito pie and brisket.



The family-owned and run El Charro was a popular choice for hungry visitors, dishing out unique Mexican fare like their "Puffy Tacos".
