Driven by a strong sense of community and passion for supporting local businesses, Julia Kepler has always wanted a one-stop-shop that offered gifts, clothing, home decor, stationery, jewelry and vintage items. Seven years after the idea initially came about, she was able to turn her vision into reality, opening the store earlier this year.
Serendipity Road is located on Main Street in downtown Midland, and is curated with items from over 55 different artisans from across Michigan. Several unique and seasonal items are on display and the quaint layout offers patrons plenty to discover.
"We have well over a thousand items in the store that were created and manufactured in Midland," says Kepler. "So when we tout the 'shop local' mindset, this is the place."
Initially looking at storefronts farther away from downtown, Kepler decided on a Main Street shop after attending an urban development conference.
"My business helps other entrepreneurs as they build their businesses," says Kepler. "I really wanted to be positioned in the best place for them to be successful, and I knew that was going to be in a downtown environment."
Kepler is overjoyed that she was able to turn her passion into her job, and says when someone finds that passion, it's where their true happiness lies. It's certainly obvious from the moment you walk into Serendipity Road that is what helped shape the business.
Serendipity Road is open Monday through Saturday from 11AM - 7PM. They are located at
215 East Main Street in Midland.
