Appia Communications spreads its wings, acquires Indiana's Connect Communications

Appia Communications, a Traverse City-based provider of managed communication and network services, is expanding its market reach thanks to a deal that has allowed it to acquire Inanapolis-based Connect Communications.

Connect Communications is a multi-tenant business telecom provider that serves customers in over 70 buildings, representing over 2.5 million square feet of business real estate. Current products for Connect include telephone services and Internet access.

"This is a great fit," says Victor von Schlegell, president of Appia Communications. "It expands our market reach and gives us entry into the multi-tenant market. This acquisition adds 25 years of mult-tenant telecom experience to Appia. This experience is essential for us to enter the multi-tenant market across the country."

With the acquisition, Connect customers can now choose integrated services digital network with the primary rate interface, private networking via multiprotocol label switching, Internet access, video conferencing, and the other managed services that Appia offers.
