Drift Innovation launches new firmware and accessories

Drift Innovation announced from its North American headquarters in Boyne City that they are unveiling new firmware and accessories for point-of-view camera users.

Drift, which manufactures wearable POV cameras for action sports and other uses, recently came out with their first HD camera, the HD 170, and the new accessories and firmware are compatible with it.

"For the first time, there is a camera that has all the features the consumer is looking for in one package," says John Rounds, general manager of Drift Innovation, North America. "The Drift HD170 raises the bar in the wearable video market."

The Drift HD 170 has remote control, an LCD screen digital zoom, and high-definition image.

The new accessories include a spare battery with longer life for filming in cold temperatures, an external microphone, a standard spare battery, a rear hatch silicon cover to protect against the elements, a protective carrying case, spare handlebar and helmet mounts, a mounting kit, and a suction cup.

Those are out now, and this month will see the firmware upgrade released for the HD170, which is meant for all current HD170 owners. It improves on the original in several ways: video is optimized, audio is professionally tuned, a multi-lingual language menu is added, screen icons are hidden during playback on a monitor, and the digital zoom bar is hidden when recording in 1080p.

Drift says the upgrade is mostly intuitive, but customer support will be available too. The changes were made in response to feedback from Drift customers, as well as from many hours of video analysis on the part of the company's product development team.
