NWMCOG becomes Networks Northwest

If you've been hearing about Networks Northwest and wondering what it is, it's the result of a name change for the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments.

The change, effective October 1, is to better identify the group and the services it offers to businesses and other organizations, according to a recent press release.

The NWMCOG's previous two governing boards decided in August to combine operations into a single board, as a response to a statewide initiative from Governor Rick Snyder's office to center state programs around geographic regions.

"The new Networks Northwest name represents the collaborative nature of the work that goes on within our organization and among the many businesses, organizations, and units of government we serve," says CEO Elaine Wood.

The programs under NWMCOG, such as Northwest Michigan Works!, the Small Business Development Center, and the Procurement Technical Assistance Center, will remain the same, but now simply be programs of Networks Northwest instead.
