Petoskey trail aims for grant using crowdfunding

A Petoskey trail project is looking for crowdfunding to get together enough matching funds to obtain a community grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

On the Michigan-based website Patronicity, the Petoskey Community Trail project is looking to raise $20,000 by July 15, in order to get another $20,000 in MEDC money to create the trail system.

The trails project is a group effort from the Petoskey Public Schools, Petoskey Education Foundation, the city of Petoskey, Northern Lakes Economic Alliance, and the Petoskey community. IT would build an in-town trail system on property shared by the soon-to-be Petoskey Community Athletic Complex. The trail would be accessible to walkers, runners, and cross-country skiers in the winter, built for year-round use and several purposes. The fairly comprehensive project includes parking, signage for loops and distances, and the design and layout of the trails to avoid road crossings.
