Impact Label relocates from Kalamazoo to Galesburg

After more than 50 years at its Kalamazoo location, Impact Label Corp. has relocated to a larger space with room for growth located at 8875 Krum Ave. in Galesburg.

Impact Label is a leading provider of product identification products--such as custom labels, nameplates, tags, and overlays--to companies in a wide range of industries around the world, including outdoor recreation, medical, and automotive.

The new 32,500 square foot facility features a modern design that emphasizes natural light using floor-to-ceiling windows in the main office space and an open floor plan in the manufacturing space to allow for flexibility in changing workflow to meet customer needs.

The new facility is the latest development in a more than $3 million in investment Impact Label has made over the last two years to meet existing its customer demand and fuel growth, the company says.

"Our customers were the initial catalyst for our expansion of services and capabilities over the last few years," says Impact Label President Susan Fogleson. "Our new Galesburg facility will allow us to accommodate that growth and more.”

The new facility is almost 40 percent larger than the company's previous building and significantly more efficient," Fogleson says.

"The new site will not only allow for better workflow for our current volume and processes but allow for us to expand the building to more than double the current size to meet future needs.”

Impact Label’s long-term commitment to lean manufacturing is a key factor in its growth and the new facility was designed from the ground up with lean manufacturing in mind, Fogleson says.

At Impact Label, lean manufacturing is based on the Toyota Production System model, focusing on four main philosophies: Customer First, Day-by-Day Continuous Improvement, Shop Floor Focus, and People Are Our Most Important Resource.

"Our customers," Fogleson says, "see the results of this culture in improved quality, reduced waste, and much shorter lead times."
