The original Lilly of the Valley plants that were a gift to Betty Beese’s father and that started out her garden many years ago still grow there, reports the Battle Creek Enquirer. The gift came from ergonomics specialist and mother of modern management Lillian Moller Galbreth. Beese’ father, C.W. Beese, got to know Galbreth when he was a professor at Purdue University and she spoke there. During a recent tour of her extensive garden, Beese explained how she keeps track of all of her plants, and how she does it from a wheelchair.
