United Way Director loves a job that makes a difference

Anna Murphy is passionate about her work as president of United Way of Southwest Michigan. The Herald-Palladium reports this is her 13th year working for United Way, her sixth year as president. The organization is a member of United Way Worldwide but is autonomous, setting its own goals based on local needs.

Murphy, 48, lives in Benton Township with her husband, Rick, and their two cats, Simon and Gracie. She says she loves her job and there are two things she loves best about it.

Excerpt:

Knowing that we as an organization can have an impact on someone's life. We can't do it as a staff without the volunteers and we can't do the work that we do if we don't have passion for it, and we do. It's a good group of people.
