Q&A with the owners of St. Clair's newest barbecue joint: Black & Bleu BBQ

The community of St. Clair has a new barbecue joint in town. We asked Black & Bleu BBQ owners Casey and James Pecor all about it.

Q: If you met someone on a warm, tropical beach, how would you describe your business back home?

Our restaurant is our second home, our sanctuary, where we share our love for food and people. A cozy and comfortable dining room, with low lighting, and toe-tappy music. Our goal is to make our customers feel like they’re at home!

Q: How did you come to open Black & Bleu BBQ?

My husband, James Pecor, and I, met in Nashville in 2009. He was born and raised in St. Clair, and I, in Spartanburg, SC. We both moved to Nashville at the same time and met on our first night out on the town. He moved to Nashville with his band; Kings In Pieces, and I moved with a friend of mine, because I felt something calling me in that direction. Sometimes you just have to follow that gut feeling. I’m so happy I did... We fell in love and moved to St. Clair in 2011. I have always dreamed of owning my own business, and my husband had always dreamed of owning his own restaurant. We combined our talents and started working on building the Black & Bleu BBQ brand.

Q: Why did you open in St. Clair? What is it about this town?

I immediately felt right at home after moving to St. Clair. It reminded me a lot of where I grew up in South Carolina. St. Clair isBlack and Bleu BBQ opened in St. Clair late last year. one big family. The camaraderie is so amazing. We had no doubt this is where we would build our dream.

Q: What's special about your location?

Our location feels so homey. It’s like a little neighborhood of businesses. Everyone is so supportive. I get cold chills thinking about how lucky we are being surrounded by such amazing people. I couldn’t see us anywhere else.

Q: What do you hope for the future?

Our only hope is to make a living doing what we love and making people happy, for as long as we can. Our goal every day is to turn someone’s frown upside down. We not only want to feed your belly, but feed your soul too.
