ALD Thermal Treatment expansion underway

A Port Huron company has a multi-million-dollar expansion underway to add both space and equipment.

ALD Thermal Treatment, located on 24th Street, has been in Port Huron since 2007. According to the company's announcement, the expansion is a result of new long-term business agreements that are going to ensure the company's growth over the next decade, and they will need to bulk up their production and capacity to meet those demands.

Jim Kassan, VP of operations, says of the new work, "We are receiving and working on contracts extending into 2023 and can expect more as we consistently demonstrate the world class performance our customers have learned to expect."

ALD is a heat treatment supplier for the automotive and aerospace industries, among other products, and recently signed contracts for work on General Motors engine and transmission components, along with other contracts the company didn't specify. They'll be applying their green, all-electric vacuum technology to process and treat the parts.

The expansion includes about 8,000 square feet of added space, upgrades to the storage infrastructure at the ALD plant, and the addition of new processing equipment. ALD currently has about 175 employees, which is expected to increase over the life of the contracts as well

"It is our hope to remain a viable and stable manufacturing facility in Port Huron for a long time," says Kassan.
