Kevin Totty is excited for the future of Port Huron. As a pastor, mentor, and leader, he sees the changes and growth first-hand and he is amazed at how well different organizations have come together to better the community. "The key is how they work together," he says. "It's an amazing component. Kevin wears many hats in the community, including serving as director of the Complete Your Degree Program through the Community Foundation of St. Clair County. The program aids folks who went to college, life happened, and now they are ready to go back. "It's going really well, we are removing every barrier to going back to school." The needs-based program pays for everything while the student finishes school, taking "life" out of the equation. Kevin says all the students will be successful because they see the community behind them. And that community support and collaboration are key to Port Huron sustaining the growth and development that's happening. "It's a real gem in our Port Huron area, being able to work together," he says. "You might not see it, but you can feel it." That energy and spirit is ultimately will bring people back home after college, Kevin says. "My dream is that we bring those young superstars back." He loves that the community is branching out and finding ways to bring the superstars back. Just thinking about it gets him excited, he says. "Once you get that taste in their mouth, they get excited and can't wait to come back. They see and believe in what is going on here and are waiting for the moment to come in and make an impact." Having been a part of the community for nearly 25 years, Kevin is inspired by the growth and can't wait to be a part of what's next. "This Blue Water area is a gem and I'm excited to be a part of it." #peopleofporthuron #inspire #collaboration #community #porthuron
