A longtime fixture of the Munising restaurant scene is kicking off an entirely new chapter with new ownership, a new name and menu, and a huge grand opening event.
The former Sydney's Family Restaurant is now the
387 Restaurant and Beer Parlor, and will celebrate the change with an Ore Dock Brewing Company tap takeover and a roster of live music starting at noon on June 11. The
grand opening features a four-course meal ($20 in advance, $25 at the door) highlighting the menu with pairings from the Ore Dock, and bands on the schedule include Alexis Matson, Corner of Lynn, Stranded and Infathom. Benefits from the event also go to the Alger County office of the Women's Center.
New owners Cheri Tannehill Goetz and Tony Goetz recently bought the restaurant at 400 Cedar Street, and have spent months remodeling and redefining the place. The new menu includes the 387 specialty burger, Buffalo chicken grilled cheese, deep fried green beans, and some classics like steak and whitefish sandwiches. In the beer parlor, of course, happy hour is slated for weekdays from 4-7 p.m. with drink and beer specials.
Carryout and catering also are available and the on-site banquet hall and outdoor space are available for rent for private events as well.
Cheri, a Munising native, is a second-generation Munising business owner, returning to the area to build both business and family, she says. Husband Tony is from Sault Ste. Marie.
"Tony and I are passionate about community service and supporting peer advancement in Munising," says Cheri Tannehill Goetz. "To come home, nurture this new endeavor with my husband and raise our child in an environment where she will thrive makes us proud to be apart of this community and to be in a position to support its growth."
