It's pizza season: Three new pizza places open

The U.P. is bursting with new pizza places lately as three new family-owned small pizzerias have announced their openings.

From east to west, Sault Ste. Marie, Gwinn and L'Anse all have new pizza joints to try this winter.

North of Chicago Pizza

In Sault Ste. Marie, the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce announced the grand opening of North of Chicago Pizza, held January 5.

North of Chicago Pizza makes Chicago-style pizza including deep dish, and is located at 1000 Ashmun Street in downtown Sault Ste. Marie.

Adam's Place

In Gwinn, the new pizza provider is Adam's Place, located at 412 Avenue A in Sawyer. It's located next to the Gwinn-Sawyer Veterinary Clinic and held a grand opening just in time for Christmas. It's open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and offers take-out and delivery in the neighborhood, the first pizza place to do so.

Adam's Place describes itself as a family-owned traditional Italian pizzeria and offers an assortment of pizza specials.

Up North Pizzeria

Another new pizza place is open in L'Anse, at 15740 Jack O'Lantern Road, right off of U.S. 41 and welcoming travelers with a wide menu of pizza, subs, wraps, soups and desserts. Specials include pizzas with local names like Mt. Arvon.
