Third Street Marketplace opens in Marquette

What’s happening: The Third Street Marketplace and Pizza@Marquette have officially opened at 1034 N. Third St., in downtown Marquette. The Lake Superior Community Partnership, a local economic resource that provides affordable and effective development services, assisted with a ribbon cutting marking the grand opening this month.

Background: In August 2020, Marketplace owner Joe Constance started plans to transform the vacant building that used to house a grocery store into the Marketplace. Three food and beverage businesses are now under the Marketplace roof.

“We are excited that a vacant building in our downtown area now offers a variety of food and drinks to our residents, students, and visitors. It took the work of many people, and we are grateful to all of them for helping to make this happen,” said building owner Ann Constance.

Who’s in the Marketplace: The businesses are: Kognisjon Bryggeri, a brewery and taproom that Ishpeming Cognition Brewery owner Jay Clancey and his team brought to the marketplace in May. Fish Express, a storefront opened by Chef
Kevin Bray, manager of a popular food truck. The storefront opened in February and offers a menu of fish, chicken and specialty items. The newest addition is Pizza@Marquette, managed by Brandon Wicks. The Marquette location marks the Florida-based company's first store in Michigan.

What’s next: Constance said that the Third Street Marketplace still has one leasehold available, and the owners are working with several entities on something that will complement the other tenants.
