A recent merger has brought together two long-time local ophthalmology clinics,
Lansing Ophthalmology, which has operated for more than 40 years, and
Michigan Eye Care Specialists, which has been open for 26. MECS, the office of Joseph Wilhelm, M.D., Kevin Liu, D.O. and James Budge, O.D., will become a part of Lansing Ophthalmology.
“Lansing Ophthalmology is gaining a wonderful practice with a well respected retina specialist and cataract surgeon,” says Lisa B. Rentz, Director of Marketing & Patient Relations for Lansing Ophthalmology, “and MECS is now part of the largest private ophthalmology practice in Michigan and their patients have access to our specialists.
The merger, which took place on April 1, will retain all jobs at the East Lansing office.
“Patients will most likely notice very little change at the Lake Lansing office other than the name on the signs out front,” says Rentz. “The staff, doctors and level of service they expect from that office will remain the same.”
The move is a part of an effort by Lansing Ophthalmology to grow and control costs with practice integrations on a small scale. The merger represents the group practice’s largest expansion to date.
Lansing Ophthalmology’s growth will continue with the addition of a new retina physician this summer.
