Lansing-based Spartan Internet Consulting Corp. is showing a 25 percent increase in revenue for the first quarter of 2009, says the company's founder, Ryan Vartoogian.
Most of that growth has come from companies looking for a better return on Web investments.
“As the economy gets tighter, businesses expect more from their sites, and rightfully so,” he says.
Spartan offers a free site evaluation to identify untapped opportunities, and can do a “web site tune-up” that promises results in 30 days.

Spartan also has offices in Detroit, Washington, D.C., and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. But most of that first-quarter growth has come from the Lansing area.
To handle its growth, the company will move into its new headquarters in Lansing's former Holmes Street School in September, and is hiring programmers to supplement its employee base of 35.
Last week Spartan hired two .Net programmers and a general web site developer. During the next couple of months, he expects to hire another .Net programmer and a php programmer.
A new program, called “Initiative,” offers business-focused internships for Michigan State University students seeking on-the-job training. The first class of three students got their initial training last week. Pay is based on performance, as in commissions; an intern could earn as much as $2,000 per month, Vartoogian says.
Spartan will occupy the third floor of the former school building and the Information Technology Empowerment Center (ITEC) will move into the first floor at the same time. Aegis Bleu, a security and technology firm, has already leased space on the second floor. About 4,000 square-feet still available.
