Finding buyers for most of the units in a townhome project is practically impossible in 2008's real estate economy, but credit the developers behind the Grant Park Townlofts for accomplishing that feat this year.
So far 11 of the Royal Oak project’s 17 units have sold and the developers are expecting more sales this spring.
"Good weather is bringing in more traffic and interest and overall better moods out of everyone," says Shelby Fulkerson, director of sales and marketing for Grant Park Townlofts.
The homes overlook Grant Park near downtown Royal Oak. They combine the features of townhomes and lofts, such as private entrances for individual units designed with wide-open floor plans. The combination earned the development a spot on the AIA Detroit chapter’s tour of unique urban living options.
The three-story townlofts on 4th Street are priced at $550,000 a piece and feature loft-style details, like cathedral ceilings, exposed wood beams and ducts. There are also single-family home amenities as well, such as a balcony facing Grant Park and an attached, two-car garage. They range in size from 2,200 to 2,800 square feet.
