Global Entrepreneur Week kicks off in Michigan

Believe it or not, you're in the middle of Global Entrepreneurship Week. This is a week where local officials work to get more young people into starting their own businesses.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation is sponsoring a number of events throughout the state to generate some awareness and maybe even a little bit of excitement about entrepreneurship. 92 organizations, businesses, and schools are participating.

Ann Arbor SPARK will be hosting a presentation on starting your own business and a tour of Menlo Innovations Software Factory. LEAP (Lansing Economic Area Partnership)/Michigan State University in Lansing and Northwood University in Midland will be hosting events today and tomorrow as part of the state's Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour.

The week, in its second year, has four goals: to awaken youth around the world to their own potential for success in starting and growing a business; to network across boundaries, cultures, and disciplines in an exchange of ideas; to enlist entrepreneurs worldwide to coach and mentor the next generation of enterprise talent; and to demonstrate the importance of entrepreneurship to a nation's economic health.
