Global LT finds market in international relations, has 10% annual revenue growth

As the world gets progressively smaller, Global LT gets incrementally bigger.

Troy-based Global LT, an international-relations business, has watched its sales jump by 10 percent in 2010. That has allowed the 32-year-old firm to add five positions over the last year, pushing its staff to about 60 people. Forty staff members and a couple of interns work in Troy.

Spurring this growth is the expansion of the firm's language, cultural training, and ex-patriot destination services. It has also added a workforce training course for international locales.

"People are recognizing that they have to communicate on a global basis," says Tom Hanson, senior vice president of sales at Global LT. "That doesn't mean they have to learn a new language but present their wares in an appropriate manner, such as getting their website translated."

The fourth quarter of 2010 was Global LT's best ever. Accordingly, the firm expects to add two jobs in operations and sales this year. "It's a cautious optimism," Hanson says.
