Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum completes two-year digitization project

It's been a two-year process, but the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum recently completed a project that allowed the facility to create an online digital library for its archives collection.

The project was funded by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services and consisted of over 5,000 photographs from the museum's collection. The digital library includes images of Marshall Fredericks' sculpture commissions, exhibitions, studios, civic engagements and the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum.

A finding aid was created for the entire collection which was then linked to the digital images. Catalog records have been submitted to national registries and databases allowing researchers worldwide access to these materials. Those interested in viewing the digital collection can do so by visiting this website.

The digital library provides researchers and scholars with access to information that spans over seventy years of Marshall Fredericks' sculpting career, affording ample opportunities for research and interpretation of one of America's most prolific monumental sculptors. Completion of this project has increased the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum's capacity to improve the management of the museum's archives in order to better serve the public, and to celebrate the artistic legacy of Marshall M. Fredericks and foster appreciation of artistic expression for the educational and cultural enrichment of the community.
