Midland snowmaking systems company
SMI Snow Makers is welcoming a new general manager this summer as longtime manager Bill Topham is set for retirement.
The new general manager will be Jeff Ewald, who has worked at SMI since 1999. He previously was SMI's technical and engineering leader. He'll take over from Topham in July, and the two are currently working together to make a smooth transition.
"Jeff knows SMI and our customers very well and he has the right intellect and attitude and is the right fit for the job," Topham says. "I look forward to retiring to Northern Michigan in the Harbor Springs area and to spending more time with family."
Topham has been with SMI since 1989 and has worked in many areas, including snowmaking systems, electrical engineering, customer relations, and master planning.
Other senior leadership will stay the same, with Sherri Pirie continuing as head of the financial team, Pat Kotewa leading manufacturing, Bob Abraham in charge of the engineering team, and LaVern Maust at the head of the automation and controls team in the company's Pennsylvania location.
SMI Snow Makers is headquartered in Midland, but has clients all over the world and regional representatives throughout North and South America, Asia, the Pacific and Europe.
