Farmers Market is gathering place in Springfield

There's a lot more than vegetables at the Farmers Market in the city of Springfield.

In past years, eight to 10 vendors had set up tables at the market. But on a recent Saturday morning about 22 (including health tests by LifeCare Ambulance) attended, the Battle Creek Enquirer reports.

Springfield City Clerk Kris Vogel directed traffic as patrons of the day's planned potluck arrived.

Excerpt:

Along with playing host to the health fair, the building at 503 Military Ave. soon would be filled with the sounds and smells of a sizzling grill, but, as Vogel explained to the eager potluck-goers, the event would have to wait until some of the health fair vendors cleared out.

"This is the best turnout," Vogel said.
