Bay Mills Indian Community purchases land in Port Huron

The Bay Mills Indian Community is looking at doing some business in Port Huron, it seems, after purchasing some property in the city.

They're not revealing what that business might be as of yet, and neither are city officials.

Excerpt: Officials are tight-lipped about what the Bay Mills Indian Community plans to do in Port Huron, but records confirm the tribe has acquired property in the city from Acheson Ventures.

County records show the tribe, based in Brimley in the Upper Peninsula's Chippewa County, acquired property at 1300 Military St., the site of the former post office, on Wednesday. It was the same day the tribe opened a new gaming center in Vanderbilt amid claims of illegality.

County records show the parcel was transferred Wednesday for $100,000.

It's not clear how much property has been bought.
