Capital City Creative Productions redefines the creative business model with collaboratory

If there’s one thing creatives can always be relied upon for, its for thinking up new ways to do ordinary things. In the case of Capital City Creative Productions, it’s the idea of how a creative services company should run.

CCCP is in fact six companies owned and operated by five creative professionals with different areas of expertise. Beginning in March, they all began to operate out of the same Michigan Avenue office so they could utilize each other’s skills, collaborate on projects and offer more to their clients.

“We like to call ourselves a collaboratory,” says Ted Wilson, owner of Michigan Shirt Works and Replay Entertainment Exchange. Wilson and Colin Foley of the web design and Internet marketing company See Foley Run came up with the idea for CCCP and began to piece together complimentary creative professionals to join their group.

They were joined by Chris Votruba or Mid Michigan Property Service Group, Rufus Rhea of Bossa Koba and Jessica Kerbawy of JK Create.

“We were able to get a nice skill set with the group,” says Wilson. “We did seek to make sure we all would have something different to bring to the table.”

The fruits of that collaborative table have included projects such as fundraising campaigns and live community events. In addition to creative services, CCCP plans to hold networking events in their office every few months, and will host a Kickball Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society on June 4 in East Lansing’s Patriarche Park.
