Downtown Lansing Facility Could Be Home to Tech and Business Incubator

The governor’s recently proposed Michigan Center for Innovation and Reinvention could mean a new technology and business incubator for Downtown Lansing.

According to excerpts from the article:

A proposed Michigan Center for Innovation and Reinvention may be placed in the building now housing the Michigan Library and Historical Center, becoming a hub to highlight the state's emerging technology economy and drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.

The facility could become a new headquarters for Lansing's Impression 5 Science Center, house an incubator for a handful of business startups and serve as home for downtown's first 500-student high school.

A not-yet-formed nonprofit entity would run most of the venture, which could open as early as 2013.

Most of the holdings of the state library that now occupy the building at 702 W. Kalamazoo St. would transfer to Michigan State University.
