Practical EHR Solutions raises $250K in Michigan Pre-Seed Capital funding

Jim Anderson wants to build bridges in the software field with his new start-up, Practical EHR Solutions. The CEO of the Ann Arbor-based firm is working to help physicians' offices maximize their new electronic health records software.

"I realized there was a significant gap between the practices and the software vendors," Anderson says. Practical EHR Solutions specializes in closing that gap by helping physician groups pick and install the best software. The start-up also helps customize the software to the physician's preferences and maintain the system.

"We're working with six physicians' associations across the state and we would like to see more," Anderson says.

Practical EHR Solutions received $250,000 in seed capital from the Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund in July. It plans to use that cash and other seed capital it has raised to continue marketing its services to more physician groups across the country. The three-person start-up, formed in January, hopes to sign up 20 practices (about 200 doctors) within its first year, which should allow it to expand its staff to 15-20 people.
