Auburn Hills-based Gongos Research enjoys steady growth

When a business wants to know how to market to a 70-year old man, who wears glasses, and likes to ride ATVs, it can go to Auburn Hills-based Gongos Research. That's how serious this custom marketing research firm can get, according to Susan Scarlet, Marketing and PR Director for Gongos.

"Our clients count on our ability to provide customized research to meet their needs," she says.

Gongos has seen a 55 percent growth since 2004 and, as with any type of growth, comes jobs.

Since the beginning of the year the firm has added 16 employees, with the potential for two more hires in the coming weeks, bringing their Southeastern Michigan workforce to 75.

Their clients aren't small either. They conduct consumer research for Domino's Pizza, Hershey's, Mars (as in the candy manufacturer, not the planet), Best Buy, and GM.

Through polls, surveys, and dialogues within consumer online research communities Gongos is able to conduct research that helps develop tailored ad campaigns, new products, or menu items – depending on the company of course.

Scarlet says that Gongos has more than 10,000 participants in Consumer Village – their online research community - and will be adding.

In 2007, Gongos made it into Inc. Magazine's top 5000 fastest growing privately held companies in America, dropping in at No. 4914. Because of their nearly 60 percent growth in the last three years, Scarlet anticipates a much higher ranking.

"I think it's safe to say we'll come in a bit higher this year," she says.
