Oakland University celebrates record enrollment

Academics are booming at Oakland University. With a 1.7 percent increase in students from last year, OU achieved a record enrollment of 15,275 undergraduates for the Fall 2010 semester.

"This enrollment increase reaffirms that quality academic programs taught by world-class faculty have made Oakland University a first-choice institution among our student population," said OU President Gary D. Russi.

The Rochester-based university also charted an 8.8% increase in new students who transferred from other institutions, and a 2.1% increase in the total number of credits students are taking.

"More importantly, students' growing reliance on higher education to build a more prosperous future shows that they are ready to meet and exceed the demands of the state's rapidly evolving economic base," Russi added.
