Starting them off young is the way to encourage excellence in many sports, and roller derby is no different. TC-area kids have the chance to try out a junior roller derby program, if you're looking for something just a little different for your kids.
Excerpt: Traverse City Roller Derby and LEAP have partnered together to develop a Northern Michigan Junior Roller Derby program where young skaters will learn the value of teamwork, athleticism and fair play through participation in junior roller derby.
LEAP Junior Derby is the place for any child between the ages of 8 and 17 years interested in learning the sport of roller derby and working on basic skating and derby skills. All skills levels are welcome and no previous skating experience is required. All participants are required to wear protective safety gear and at least one CPR certified adult will be attending each class.
