Lakeview Schools superintendent to take job by July

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The incoming superintendent of Battle Creek Lakeview Schools, David Peterson, said he’ll gladly head up committees, but prefers hands-on grunt work.

Peterson told the Battle Creek Enquirer that he’s a bit of a workaholic, but he’s not one to stay behind his desk. He gets out in the community, shakes hands, meets students one-on-one.

By July 1, Peterson will make the 145-mile drive from Farwell Area Schools north of Mount Pleasant, where he’s been superintendent since 2004, to Battle Creek where he replaces former Lakeview School District Superintendent Cindy Ruble, who retired last summer.

Excerpt:

“I’m kind of a laid-back, easy-going person,” Peterson said. “But once you get to know me, my expectations are very high. And those expectations will drive both me and the district.”
