What’s happening: Michigan’s wine industry will be showcased alongside locally grown flowers and food at an award-winning dinner series in West Michigan. The 2024 Field to Vase Dinner will be held at
Creekside Growers, a flower farm, market, and event space in Middleville.
What it is: The Field to Vase dinner series is organized by
Certified American Grown, a national non-profit and trade association that represents flower and foliage farmers throughout the country. Their dinners take place at various sites and states each year, integrating domestic growers and makers to develop a food and drink menu that celebrates all things local.
What’s on the menu: The 2024 Field to Vase Dinner at Creekside Growers will feature wines produced with 100 percent Michigan-grown fruit from
Modales in Fennville,
Domaine Berrien Cellars in Berrien Springs, and
MAWBY in Suttons Bay. All three wineries are members of the Michigan Wine Collaborative, which is partnering with Certified American Grown for the event. The dinner menu, which emphasizes local and sustainable ingredients, is being prepared by Chef Christine Ferris of Farmhouse Deli in Douglas. Flowers from Creekside will complement the experience.
Why it’s important: “This collaboration of agriculture, artistry, and passion will prove to be a vibrant experience that guests of the dinner will cherish for years to come,” says Emily Dockery, executive director of the Michigan Wine Collaborative. “We hope that these guests will form an emotional connection with Michigan wine that inspires them into planning trips to Michigan wine country regularly and emboldens them to demand local wines at their favorite wine shops, retailers, and restaurants.”
How to attend: The 2024 American Grown Field to Vase Dinner at Creekside Growers in Middleville is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. The event is open to the public, though organizers attest that these events tend to sell out quickly. Tickets are available for $200 each
and can be purchased online.
Creekside Growers & Flower Farm is located at 10197 Garbow Rd. in Middleville.
