Hillsdale Hospital launches capital campaign

What's happening: Hillsdale Hospital has launched a Capital Campaign fundraiser, with the goal of reaching $1 million for needed hospital equipment. It’s been nearly a decade since the nonprofit hospital has initiated this kind of campaign.

The fundraiser: The fundraiser is part of the hospital’s Hillsdale Strong. Hillsdale First. campaign, intended to encourage staff and community to choose Hillsdale Hospital first for healthcare needs, making Hillsdale stronger as a result. This vision also plays a role in ensuring the long-term sustainability of the local hospital, a goal that the Capital Campaign directly impacts.

What will the money be used for: Campaign funds will be used to purchase six pieces of equipment that will promote patient and employee safety, improve high-quality services, and maintain facilities. One of these pieces of equipment is an echocardiogram machine, which helps medical providers detect heart disease and other heart conditions. Another needed item is an HVAC unit for the hospital’s 47-year-old laundry department, to provide heat and cooling for employees.

“We’re launching this campaign because we believe in placing our community first. Our Hillsdale Hospital team and every single one of our patients must be our top priority, and that’s why we need this state-of-the-art equipment – to advance the safety and care of both. The Capital Campaign fundraiser goes hand in hand with our marketing campaign: Hillsdale Strong. Hillsdale First. By keeping services local, we keep our hospital strong," said Jeremiah J. Hodshire, president and CEO of Hillsdale Hospital.

Other equipment needs: They include a Hana Fracture Table, Workstations on Wheels and a generator for Hillsdale Orthopedics. Also needed is a HUGS Infant Security System to help prevent the abduction of babies in the hospital’s obstetrics unit. The cost of this equipment adds up to equal the $1 million fundraising goal that the hospital has set.

What they're saying: "Hillsdale Hospital is one of the largest economic engines in our community,” said Richard Moore, owner of Moore Insurance Services and Capital Campaign chair. “It’s imperative that we continue to invest in the latest up-to-date equipment and tools for the benefit of our patients and employees. That’s why the Capital Campaign will make a significant impact on our facilities and patient care. Now, more than ever, we need to invest, support and utilize Hillsdale’s independent hospital."

One-time gifts and financial pledges are appreciated, but interested community members can also support the Capital Campaign by spreading the word about the hospital’s fundraiser and multitude of services.
