What's happening: The Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation has named Alison Metiva as president and CEO, effective January 1, 2026. Her appointment comes after an extensive selection process. She will succeed David Mengebier, who will step down from the position at the end of this year. Mengebier has served as the foundation’s president and CEO since 2018. Prior to joining the Community Foundation, he served for 17 years as senior vice president of Governmental, Regulatory, and Public Affairs for Consumers Energy, and president of the Consumers Energy Foundation.
Alison MetivaAbout Metiva: During her 19-year tenure with the community foundation, Metiva has served in a variety of roles with increasing responsibility, including managing the organization’s grantmaking and scholarship programs, communications and marketing, donor stewardship and development, human resources and budgeting. Most recently, Metiva has served for three years as the foundation’s Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the organization’s day-to-day operations. Metiva grew up in Northern Michigan and is a graduate of Northwestern Michigan College and Western Michigan University.
