The local NAACP marks Juneteenth with two celebrations in Bay City

You’re invited to a party in Wenonah Park and a free health and wellness fair in celebration of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth is a national holiday commemorating the end of slavery in 1865. The NAACP Bay City Branch celebrates Juneteenth here with two events, one on Wed., June 18 and the second on Sat., June 21.

The first event is a Health & Wellness Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wed., June 18 at the Great Lakes Dream Center, 700 Lafayette Ave. The event includes free health screenings, food, and giveaways.

The second Juneteenth event is a Freedom Celebration from noon to 8 p.m. Sat., June 21 in Downtown Bay City’s Wenonah Park. The fun includes live Motown music from Detroit-based Soundproof, African drumming and dancing, food trucks, poetry, a fashion show, and more.
