New grocery concept, 28 jobs come to Lansing with Valu Land

A new grocery-shopping concept opened at 3800 West Saginaw Street last month, and already the response to the discount grocer, Valu Land, has been strong.

“Things have been very good,” says Valu Land store manager, Audra LaDronka. “We’ve been well received by the community. It’s a pleasure for us to be here.”

The 15,000 square foot store carries both national brands and Spartan products. Spartan Stores owns and operates the Valu Land stores in Leslie, Marion, Clare and now Lansing.

“We’re going along the same concept as an Aldi or a Save-a-Lot, but we have more national brands,” says LaDronka. “We also have our “unmatchables,” which are 14 items we won’t let any competitor beat us on prices.”

The new store also brought 28 new jobs to the area when it opened its doors on May 6.
