CG's New Faces and Fond Farewells

First off, I want to wish a fond farewell to Ivy Hughes, Capital Gains' long-time managing editor, and to Andy Balaskovitz, our short-time news editor.

One of our earliest hires, Hughes helped make Capital Gains' pages surprising, encouraging and informative while also deepening our relationships and solidifying our role in the Capital community. We wouldn't be here without her.

Balaskovitz, though only on board for a short time, brought a great voice and fresh energy to several of our most recent issues.

While it's sad to see them go, we're grateful for their many contributions, and wish them both well as they pursue new writing endeavors.

And I'm excited to officially welcome Suban Nur Cooley, who takes over as Capital Gains' managing editor. A frequent contributor and previous news editor for the publication, you'll probably recognize Nur Cooley as a great asset to the publication and to the Lansing community. I'm excited to have her hand at the editorial tiller, and I encourage you to contact Nur Cooley here with suggestions, ideas and insights.

I'm also excited to introduce Louise Knott Ahern, who will be covering development, jobs and innovation news as Capital Gains' news editor.

A Lansing-area native with family connections to General Motors, and an established and award-winning journalist, Ahern lived in California for seven years before returning to make her home in Williamston—a town she loves for it's lively and walkable downtown. Check out her story here, and please drop her a note of welcome and send her any news tips here.

Thanks for reading, enjoy your Capital City summer, and as always feel free to contact me here anytime!
