Decker’s Coffee, the
Olympic Broil,
Stober’s and
Lamaii’s Thai Kitchen all have cameo roles in local filmmaker
Michael McCallum's new movie,
Handlebar. The entire movie was filmed in the Capital region using Michigan talent, and it premiers this week on the big screen.
Handlebar is a comic thriller featuring two low level thieves who are hired by a Mafioso to kidnap a rival’s daughter. They immediately screw it up, accidentally kidnapping the Mafioso's daughter.
We missed the Feb. 21 premier, but if this film is anything like McCallum's award-winning
Fairview St., we’re all in for a treat.
Fairview St. debuted in 2009, was accepted to 16 film festivals and won six national awards.
Handlebar is the thing to do this week and is showing at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 26, Feb. 27 and Feb. 28 at
Celebration Cinema.
