Reach Studio Art Center and the
MSU Residential College in the Arts and Humanities have partnered up to bring us this special exhibition: “
Patterns of Place—Discovering ourselves and the neighborhoods of REO Town through painting, photography, poetry and printmaking.”
The art was produced by about 70 Lansing young people, ages 7-18, who "engaged in painting, photography, printmaking, and poetry
exercises and projects to 'see' and give voice to the many assets—history, ethnic diversity, language, landscapes, architecture—that
make this urban area unique."
The students were taught artistic skills by RCAH faculty and students, community volunteers, and Reach staff. They then set out to "explore their surroundings using a variety of artistic media."
The exhibit includes 90 pieces of framed art, books and poetry, and is open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays from 5:00–8:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 1:00–5:00 p.m. through May 27, 2010.
The gallery is located at
1133 S. Washington Ave in REO Town.
